To Write, To Conjure

The top panel depicts a brown hand with a stylus, brush, or wand. In ancient Mesoamerica, writing and painting were synonymous. The bottom panel features the Maya glyph for "To Conjure," symbolizing Toltec imaginative practices. Outlined by the Maya glyph for "winik" (human), this work explores how, as the old-world paradigm comes to an end, individuals, especially those marginalized, can shape a new world using the power of their imagination, expressed through writing, painting, and other art forms.
The bottom panel's iconography is the Maya glyph for "To Conjure," symbolizing the Toltec tradition of conjuring through imagination and revealed through art.
